California police believe that the driver who apparently caused a multi-vehicle accident was under the influence of illicit drugs. They charged the driver with a felony DUI, although toxicology reports have yet to determine whether this was the case. In total, seven vehicles were involved in the motor vehicle accident, which resulted in several injuries.
The 19-year-old driver who supposedly sparked the multi-vehicle collision was headed eastbound on Highway 18. According to authorities, he sideswiped another vehicle and then lost control of his own car. He crossed into westbound traffic, striking several other vehicles in the process.
Five people suffered injuries in the wreck, although it is not clear if the driver accused of causing the ordeal was included in that number. A young girl was among those injured, and she was transported to a children's hospital for what appears to be a serious brain injury, and further information about the other injured victims is not clear. However, police say that one of the officers who responded to the accident was an expert trained in drug recognition. It was that officer who determined that the driver was possibly under the influence of drugs.
The victims involved in this motor vehicle accident are probably dealing with many different issues. Aside from the physical impact of being injured, victims routinely deal with emotional trauma, lost wages and more. California victims can seek compensation for these types of damages through personal injury claims that, if successfully pursued to completion, can yield essential legal recourse for their recovery.,
